VOTING Voters in Fairfax County participate in elections for county, state and Federal offices. Federal positions are elected in even-numbered years. State and County offices are elected in odd-numbered years. All general elections are held in November.
Primary elections (when called) are in June. Parties may also nominate by canvass or convention; those events are held within 30 days before the June primary.
For more information, see: Registering to vote (Fairfax County) Polling places and online look-up service
*If you quality to vote absentee (because of travel, work schedule, illness), you can do that either by mail or in person (See Absentee Voting, below). ___________________________________
KNOW YOUR VOTING DISTRICT & PRECINCT For those new to this, knowing your voting district and precinct is very useful. A good place to find this information is at the Virginia Board of Elections.
Knowing this information, off the top of your head, helps our unit and district chairmen to more effectively organize. For example, meetings of the Fairfax County Republican Committee are organized by Fairfax County |

magisterial district with tables marked for each magisterial district. Members and visitors sit at the table organized for the magisterial district in which they reside (visit the other magisterial district tables is encouraged because this is a great way to get to know your fellow Party members).
Besides, knowing your district and precinct (for those of you in Fairfax City, you only have to know your precinct), it is also good to know the District in which you reside for the US Congress, VA State Senate, and the VA House of Delegates. |
